Welp, I got an email saying my subscription had run out so I came back to check up on dA. Thousands of journals and about ten thousand artworks later, I feel like my inbox doesn't hate me.

Also, there's a thing on my page saying I've been on dA for six years! That's SIX YEARS.

And I've been neglecting it for the past year or so. Why? Life. Earthquakes. University. The SCA.

I'll try and hang around more often, but you all know how bad I am at keeping promises, so maybe not.

But here's the important bits of the past year:

I own a house. Really. I'm like a real people or something.
I became the Chatelaine of the local SCA group.
I got into SCA archery and Heavy combat in a big way (I have my own armour and everything).
I learned Latin then gave it up because I had too many Classics credits.
I was awarded a Corde de Guerre by the King of Caid for fighting at an SCA event (this probably won't make sense to many of you, but trust me, it's pretty cool. I'm one of only two people in New Zealand to hold the award).
I turned 21.
I switched browsers from Firefox to Google Chrome.

I hang out on Tumblr lots so here is a link to my page: inveighed.tumblr.com/

Now tell me what you've been up to, my neglected friends! Are you all well?

We had a sizeable aftershock over the weekend, during which my computer screen made a bid for freedom; I can only assume it was trying to reach the window.

I managed to retrieve it from the floor before it could get any further, but I haven't dared turn my computer on since because if the screen is busted it means I have to deal with insurance things.

It doesn't really matter. I've already failed at updating the comic on time. I swear, I have about five more weeks' worth of comics in a neat pile beside my computer. I just foget to upload them. Maybe I should change the schedule to "Whenever I get around to it." It'd be more honest that way...

Quake Restart

3 min read
Being luckier than many others in Christchurch, I've been less badly affected by the earthquake, and my life has almost returned to normal.

Well, that's a lie. Things are far from normal right now. After spending several days volunteering at the Red Cross, I was offered a job there, processing grant applications for earthquake victims. Being in the mail room is the worst job; you see all the letters and photos of ruined houses people put in with their applications.

University is slowly getting back on its feet, but one of my courses has become a distance learning course, and the other two haven't restarted yet, so life is full of uncertainty right now.

But hey, remember at the end of last year when I said I was going to start work on a webcomic for reals this time? Well it turns out I wasn't being overly confident in my own ability to stay the course. I've got several pages finished and several more in the works. I will post the first page on Monday, and another on every following Monday, until the super secret Website that Zephrania is working on happens, at which point a new schedule will happen.

I'm also getting less busy with life in general now that things have quietened down from the earthquake, so hopefully I'll be able to spend more time on dA and actually get my inbox cleared or something...

Not dead.

For any of you who have heard the latest news from Christchurch NZ:

I'm ok. Most of the people I know are ok. Stuff has been broken and damaged, but compared to the loss of life the loss of property is insignificant.

Christchurch has been declaired a disaster zone after the massive 6.3 aftershock from the September earthquake, and we're still suffering smaller aftershocks of between 4 and 5.3.

Worst of all, perhaps, was the collapse of the Cathedral spire, the very center of Christchurch city. It's almost symbolic of the death the city has suffered, and I doubt it will ever be restored to its former glory.

Work was so time-consuming. I got nothing done during those six weeks. Ugh.

I have to get my computer set up so that I can get stuff scanned. Secret Wars needs posting.

Meanwhile, I've been taking advantage of the give one get one free deal on premium memberships. Easiest Christmas presents to get you guys :)

Merry Christmas!
